Introduction
Earlier this month, Valcre embarked on an exciting journey to Seattle, Washington for the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute’s Chapter Meeting. We had the honor of sponsoring, attending, and teaching our CE-eligible course, “Technology for CRE professionals.”
Keynote wisdom for appraisal companies
The event opened with a special keynote address delivered by Craig Steinley, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, AI-RR, the President of the Appraisal Institute.
Having assumed his prestigious role as national president in August, he’s been on a mission to drive initiatives that build upon the industry’s recent momentum, fostering greater inclusivity and equity within the Appraisal Institute and the appraisal profession. From the AI PAREA program to the Appraiser Diversity Initiative and the University Relations Pilot Program, Steinley, and the board are focused on these important efforts.
Members actively engaged in discussions with Steinley, addressing a wide variety of topics, including reinforcing chapter support, professional barriers, and enhancing the “Find an Appraiser” tool on the national website.
Craig shared that he is a supporter of Valcre, our leadership, and our commitment to propelling appraisal companies and efficiencies for the industry forward.
Learning and teaching about technology
As passionate advocates for innovation and continuous learning, Valcre had the privilege of sharing our CE-eligible course during the event. Led by Valcre’s Senior Software Engineer, Mark Vella, a former appraiser with a deep understanding of the profession, the session built on one of our takeaways from Steinley’s keynote about the pivotal role adaptability plays in today’s market.
Mark covered proven tools for the profession, emerging tools like artificial intelligence, the increasing importance of mobile apps, and the transformative power of tech-enabled field inspections.
Technology is a powerful solution for many of the pain points reported by appraisers. From addressing the lack of competitive advantage to resolving issues of inefficient data management and scaling challenges, technology is proving to be the key to success.
Networking with top appraisal companies
The CE course concluded with a vibrant happy hour that brought together attendees, providing a relaxed and enjoyable way to wrap up the afternoon.
All day we had the pleasure of engaging with appraisers representing some of the industry’s leading appraisal companies, interacting with industry experts, and connecting with like-minded individuals who share our passion for staying at the forefront of the field.
It was a great way to conclude our time together in Seattle, leaving everyone looking forward to the next opportunity to connect in person.
Conclusion
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Appraisal Institute Seattle Chapter for hosting us and to all the attendees who made the meeting a great one. We are continually inspired by the unwavering commitment of professionals within the appraisal industry to innovation and adaptability.
PS, mark your calendars for November 2, when Valcre returns to Seattle for the Appraisal Institute Seattle Chapter’s 17th Annual Fall Event. We look forward to connecting with you there!
