What is involved with becoming a general certified commercial appraiser?

The Appraisal Qualifications Board is the authority.

Some of the basic requirements for General Certification include:

  • 3,000 hours of qualifying experience
    • within no fewer than 18 months
    • 1,500 hours of non-residential work
  • 300 hours qualifying education
    • this is outlined in the Required Core Curriculum
    • compared to 150 licensed resi & 200 certified resi
    • there is crossover so you won’t be starting over
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Supervisory Appraiser
  • AQB-approved Certified General Real Property Appraiser examination
